Day book, 1862 Jul. 25-1866 Jan. 6.

Records activities of a very busy Canadian spoonmaker, including buying scrap metal to melt down, purchasing lead and antimony, acquiring sheets of tin to use for making spoons, and purchasing chamois skins, polish, and acid for finishing the spoons. The manuscript also records the volume of spoons casted. One day Warner cast 12 1/2 gross of spoons along with other work; another time he trimmed 23 gross of tea spoons. There are numbers listed next to some products and since their prices vary, they probably indicate different patterns. Warner made and marketed what he called British tea and table spoons, Brunswick tea spoons, Albata tea spoons, and tin spoons. Although the volume is Canadian in origin, trade with the United States is indicated; contacts in both New York and Connecticut are mentioned. Notations on paying duty on moulds suggest that they had to be imported.
